Abstract Art

Abstract Art is art that does not look like what its meant to be. If your not the best at making art with great detail then abstract art is for you. I use to see abstract art as being just scribbles of paint that people got paid a lot for. Abstract art is a great way of expressing yourself. You make art that sometimes people automatically can tell what it was made to be and sometimes people do not see your vision. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of what art is.

Harlem Renaissance

During the Harlem renaissance African Americans began to migrate to Harlem, New York making it prodominatly black neighborhood. Many African americans moved from their rural living to urban cities. They made their own style of art, and music and redefined expressions of African-Americans and their heritage. everyone called this "The New Negro Movement".

I chose the harlem renaissance as my topic because it has alot to do with art. Many artist was able to express this movement through art dance, music, theatre, literature and poetry rather than just stating the facts. The art that was made looks very urban with alot of bright colors and its very descriptive without doing so much detailing. It was a historic moment that showed the middle class African Americans making a mark in history.

OUR FRIEND WALTER

Walter, your time here with us was very dear and special, with your unusual artistic abilities. Your art work is very different and make people take a second look. Abstract art wasn't a big eye opener to me because I looked at it like it was just scribbles but after making abstract art myself I look at it with a different view. Its sad that you will no longer be here but hopefully you can take time out of your busy schedule to come to our Art gallery.I learned alot within the time you was here. your art is very inspirational. The collages we made was very relaxing and new to me. I would like to say thank you for your time here.

July 19,2010

What can I say about this week? Well this week went by pretty fast. We painted alot and began to get into detail about our Art Gallery.Ex Mayor John Street came and played a game with us which actually had a point to it, he tried to explain how some people have luck, some people have to work hard then others do to disavantages and if you let things get in your way you will not get anywhere. We also did some painting throughout the week. Mines was mostly about recycling.I can feel that the Art gallery is getting near and planning it seems easy but I know when the day comes it will be a fiasco. Due to Murphy's Law "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong" so I think we have to work hard and be precise about every detail so nothing goes wrong.

BECOMING PREPARED FOR THE FUTURE

This week was ok, I guess. There was a few interuptions that got in the way of making this week a great week. For example, it rained twice this week and we had portfolio training. Portfolio training was more like a class, we filled out a blank map which tested our geographic skills. I was surprised at how much i did and did not know. I think that class is useful for the future. It will teach us how to be more professional.

CITY LIFE

Today a theme came up during our group discussion for our art gallery. The theme is City Life which will be the base of the our exhibit. Everyone knows there's problems in the city like the economy is bad and there's homeless people and things like that but we want to show the others problems that people don't really pay attention to, like littering, recycling, pollution, ecosystems, abandoned animals and vandalism. Everyone brought there ideas to life by sketching what they thought the mural should look like. I tried to capture a little bit of everything and summarize it into one picture.

Where starting to take the steps to make our art gallery. Its a bit of a challenge because we have to take everything into consideration like finding a place to have it, Who will host it? Who do we want the audience to be? What will be our role?

I dont know what I would want my job to be in this event. I wouldnt mind being the greeter or the person that walks around and make sure everything is going the way it should. I think its gonna be hard finding a host.I dont have anyone particular in mind, Mayor Nutter would be nice or someone with that type of authority.
